Week 4: progress updates, initial study thoughts
- Due No Due Date
- Points 0
This week we're hoping for informal updates from each project, which can include both implementation updates (demos, screenshots, etc.), thoughts/questions you want feedback on, and ideally, some initial thoughts about what kind of a study you might run. That is, what sorts of activities would you have students do to evaluate the efficacy of your tool?
Basically we just want to have an interesting discussion around something you have learned about your project since last week.
Here are some potential resources to help brainstorm what you might present:
- Demo/mock up what the element markup would look like for a new question element (question type) that uses your tool. For example, take a look in the PL docsLinks to an external site. to see that when authoring (say) a "put these things in order" question, you would use the pl-order-blocks element, which defines some specific XML-like markup that will be turned into raw HTML by the element code.
- There are links to papers in the module that describe some examples of (what I consider) good evaluations of e-learning tools. You can divide-and-conquer within your team to skim these for ideas, and harvest the references from them (that's one of the hints in the "how to read a paper" resources from last week…).
- Additional related work you've discovered since last week—either related to others who have built and/or evaluated something similar to what you're doing, or important information about some supporting technology you plan to make use of.
The above are only suggestions; in the end the goal is to just have a great discussion, as we've been doing so far.
Whatever you decide, we encourage you to add a slide or two to your ongoing slide deck to structure the discussion!
