Remote Instruction Guide
The Remote Instruction Guide provides methods, tools, and best practices for incorporating online components into your in-person class to accommodate students who may need to miss several class sessions and also prepare for potential short-term disruptions during the semester. Additionally, many of the strategies outlined in the guide are useful approaches in any semester to ensure all students are equally able to be part of the class community.
- Use your bCourses site to present materials, administer assessments and assignments, and engage students
- Develop engaging instructional materials
- Design flexible exams and assignments
- Grade student exams and assignments and provide feedback via bCourses and Gradescope
- Provide opportunities for active student-to-student interaction
- Meet the accommodations required for students who have Letters of Accommodation (LOAs) from the Disabled Students' Program (DSP)
- Communicate with students via bCourses and Zoom
About This Guide
- Though organized in sequential modules, you do not have to follow the exact order provided. Feel free to focus on topics that are relevant to your needs. Review the Outline to see what topics are covered in each module.
- Each module includes information on "how to do it" and best practices. Consider reviewing the best practices for each module, even if you don't need a how-to tutorial.
- You will continue to have access to this guide after enrolling, so you can return to it whenever you have questions.
