Schedule Zoom Meetings from bCourses
Create a Recurring Meeting
Once you have accessed the Zoom area of bCourses, you can schedule your recurring meetings. Begin by selecting the Schedule a New Meeting button.
Now, you can input all of the information for your meeting via the provided fields. "Topic" is the title of your meeting and you can include an optional description. The most essential item here is to check the box next to "Recurring Meeting." When you check that box, you will open up the option to set the regular meeting day of the week, time, and frequency. This information should match what you listed as your class meetings or office hours in the course syllabus.
See Settings for Securing Zoom for best practices when adjusting your meeting settings.
How Students Will Access Your Meetings
Students can join a Zoom meeting scheduled using the bCourses integration through the Zoom menu item in course navigation on the left.
Students will receive a message in the bCourses Inbox with the meeting information and link and see the event with the link on the bCourses calendar.
If you want to post the link in your course or send it out via a different avenue, you can click on the meeting from your Upcoming Meetings list and select the link next to Invite Attendees. This is the same link for all meetings in the series.
Important Note
The link to the recurring meeting and your personal meeting room are different links. If you want to provide students with a link to a scheduled meeting time, you must take it from the Upcoming Meetings list, not your Personal Meeting Room. Similarly, when it is time for your meeting to start, you must start the meeting from your Upcoming Meetings list, not simply enter your Personal Meeting Room. If you give students the link to your Personal Meeting Room or enter your Personal Meeting Room instead of starting the scheduled meeting, you and the students will effectively be in separate "rooms" and will not be able to meet.
Cancel a Meeting in a Series
If you ever need to cancel one meeting in your recurring series, but want to keep the series itself, select "Delete" next to the meeting you want to cancel. You'll see the option to "Delete This Occurrence" or "Delete All Occurrences." Select "Delete This Occurrence" if you just want to delete that specific date.
Editing a Single Office Hour Session in a Recurring Series
Single meetings within a recurring series cannot currently be edited from within the bCourses' Zoom integration. If you want to change the time or date of a single meeting in a recurring series, you will need to do so from the Berkeley Zoom Links to an external site. website. You will also need to then change the time or date of the Calendar event Links to an external site. for the Zoom meeting and notify students separately, in an announcement or through course mail.
