Spacing

Learn to properly and efficiently add spacing to your Word document using the Styles Tool.

Heading 1 Spacing

    1. From the View option on the Ribbon, select "Print Layout"From the View option on the Ribbon, select Print Layout
    2. From the Home option on the Ribbon, select the Styles Pane.From the Home option on the Ribbon, select the Styles Pane
    3. Highlight the H1 in the document, Accessibility Quick Start Guide. 
    4. From the Styles Tool, select Heading 1, then select Modify.From the Heading 1 pull down in the Styles Pane, select Modify Style
    5. Select Format and then select Paragraph.From the Format pull down menu, select Paragraph
    6. Select Centered in the "Alignment" field.
    7. Select 18 in the "After" field.From the Alignment pull down menu, select Centered.  Within the spacing section, in the After section, select 18pt.  Select OK
    8. Select OK.Select OK

 

Heading 2 Spacing

  1. Place your cursor on the first Heading 2
  2. From the Styles Tool, select "Heading 2", then select "Modify"Within the Styles Pane, select the Heading 2 pull down menu and select Modify Style
  3. Select "Format" then select "Paragraph"From the Format pull down menu, select Paragraph
  4. Change the "Before" value to 12 pt.In the Spacing section, locate Before and select 12pt.  Press OK.
  5. Select "OK"Select OK

Heading 3 Spacing

  1. Place your cursor on the first Heading 3.
  2. From the Styles Tool, select "Heading 3," then select "Modify"Select Heading 3 from the Styles Pane and then select Modify Style
  3. Select "Format" then select "Paragraph"From the Format pull down menu, selec Paragraph
  4. Change the "Before" and "After" values to 6 pt.Within the Spacing section, change the Before and After values to 6.  Select OK
  5. Select OK.Select OK
